We’ve just got back from having a fab BBQ at a small group we run for some of the Kid’s at our church.

It was all going so well until we noticed a bit of charcoal had fallen through the BBQ and had landed on top of the gas canister. The gas pipe melted through and caught fire! We soon had a jet of flame!

Fortunately our friend Dave managed to get the pipe off and the fire out – we both then spent the next 15 minutes trying to get the valve to close to stop the gas escaping. Fortunately all was ok and we had a great rest of the evening.

My realisation was that when i’m a Dad I’ll have to be the one staying calm and putting the fire out, as I was ready for moving everyone away and calling the firebrigade
